Your Job Reduces Your Stress? Could this be true?

I recently read an article by Kathleen O’Brien that suggests that if you want to feel less stressed, you should spend more time at work.

At first thought, this seems to be a contradiction. Doesn’t working too much cause stress?

Penn State University researchers measured people’s levels of cortisol, a major indicator of stress, and found employees have significantly lower levels of stress at work than at home. (more…)

You don’t have to face difficulties alone

You don’t have to face difficulties alone. No matter how small or large a challenge you have, it is well worth it to to seek help. Getting a fresh perspective can give you more options. You will also feel better knowing that you’re not alone.

As an example, I’ve been feeling anxious about my mother’s upcoming 90th birthday. This should be a joyous and momentous occasion, something to be excited about, but the challenging relationships that I have with some in my family are making the situation very stressful. (more…)

I need your input to resolve a family conflict!

I need your input! I’ve been struggling with an upcoming situation, and I’m conflicted about what to do. My mother is going to have her 90th birthday on July 10th. That date comes out on a Thursday, and my sisters want to celebrate on the weekend because of work schedules.

I’m a traditionalist and believe that a birthday should be celebrated on the exact day. Especially a milestone birthday such as this. Isn’t that why they call it a birthday? (more…)

Emotions…a poem by a fellow highly sensitive person

I received this poem by Ashley Gurka. I related to everything that she described. Here’s a very deep analysis of what it’s like to be a highly sensitive person.
