#HighlySensitivePeople #Introverts: Are You Overlooking Your Best Qualities?

As a highly sensitive person and introvert, I’ve spent a good part of my life learning to understand myself better. One thing I’ve discovered is how easy it is to focus on what we think is wrong with us while overlooking the very qualities that make us special.

Have you ever done that yourself? I know I have!

Here’s what I’ve learned from my own experience: Sometimes, our greatest strengths are the very things we take for granted.

Why are we so quick to criticize ourselves but so reluctant to give ourselves credit? Maybe we dismiss our talents because they come naturally to us, or we believe that unless we do something perfectly, it doesn’t count.

Here’s my unconventional advice: Stop trying so hard to fix yourself, and start recognizing what’s already right about you!

As highly sensitive people and introverts, we have qualities worth appreciating. We may be observant, intuitive, empathetic, conscientious, curious, and loyal. We may notice things others miss, listen when others need someone to hear them, and think deeply before making decisions.

These aren’t weaknesses to overcome. They’re strengths to recognize, develop, and put to good use!

And here’s another thought: You don’t have to brag about yourself to believe in yourself. You can be humble without making yourself smaller. You can recognize your talents without being perfect.

Here’s a small step I’d encourage you to take today: Write down five qualities you genuinely like about yourself. Don’t just list accomplishments. Include the personal qualities that make you who you are. Keep that list handy, and add to it whenever you discover something new.

From my own experience, greater self-awareness begins when we stop looking only at what’s wrong with us and start appreciating what’s right.

Today’s Brave Step: Give yourself the same credit you’d give a friend. You may discover that you’re a much better person than you’ve been giving yourself credit for!

What personal quality do you appreciate most about yourself? I’d love to hear your thoughts!

If this resonated with you, someone you care about might need it too. Don’t wait—share it with them now. A few words at the right moment can make all the difference.

A New Book Is Taking Shape

I’m working on a new book drawn from decades of personal experience with sensitivity, introversion, and social anxiety.

It’s about what I wish I had understood about myself sooner—and what I hope might help you understand yourself a little better.

More to come.
