I received this poem by Ashley Gurka. I related to everything that she described. Here’s a very deep analysis of what it’s like to be a highly sensitive person.
From Ashley: “I could never understand why I felt emotions so deeply and intensely. My only outlet is poetry. It all makes sense knowing that I am a highly sensitive person. I wanted to share a poem I wrote about my emotions.”
Emotions
Your worst enemy displayed,
Always hated but never strayed,
A part of you that never ends,
Through the good it just blends,
Captivating and mindful,slowly succumbs,
Mind lost, heart racing, beating drums,
Emotions-so angry, so bitter, so cold,
But yet so warm, deep enough for another to hold,
A balance must be met,
Yin to the Yang must be set.
-Ashley Gurka
Thank you Ashley for sharing your thoughts! Have you written anything that we highly sensitive people can relate to and learn from. I’d love to feature your work on my blog. I’m interested in any thoughts or comments that you have.
I’m a HSP who coincidentally has Bipolar Disorder II. The combination has always made life, challenging, daunting and, all too frequently, overwhelming. I also write poetry which has been such a powerful tool for self discovery as well as a healthy, positive outlet for so much I am unable to share. I’m deeply spiritual and “soul” growth has always been a guiding force in my life. I respectfully submit a short poet, that I believe, many HSPs can relate to.

housed deeply within
wrapped carefully
with layer
upon layer
there is…
that beautiful thing
fragile and precious
that you protect
and rightfully so
from all that could harm
that beautiful thing
fragile and precious
housed deeply within
wrapped carefully
with layer
upon
layer…
Many blessings, Sue Lotta
What beautiful and thoughtful poems…the one by Ashley and the one By Sue in the comments. Both are so perfect for Highly Sensitive People!
Thank you Ashley and Sue for your thought provoking poems. Keep writing! It’s important that highly sensitive people “flex” their creative muscles. It’s helps us and the people that receive our messages.
