Do you have a problem with focus? I know that this is a likely “yes” for a highly sensitive person! We can be easily distracted by our thoughts, emotions, or something in our environment. It doesn’t take much for us to get off track.

Random thoughts, family, economic, personal problems, chaotic situations, or even just our curiosity compete for our attention. Can we filter out some things and focus on others? We can with the right mindset. Here are some suggestions:

  • Determine why you want to focus on something. Why is it important to you? Is this the best use of your time at this moment? The more reasons you can give yourself for moving this to the top of your priority list, the more motivated you’ll be to stayed focused. (more…)

#HighlySensitivePeople: How Do You Make Others Feel?

How do you make others feel? Are people genuinely glad to see you? Do they feel better or uplifted by your presence or actions? Self-awareness of this is the secret to attracting the “right people” to you.

Although I’m not perfect, I try to be a positive force whenever I meet someone in person or communicate with them through my writing. My personal philosophy is to take a genuine interest in the welfare of others. How “connected” are you? Studies show that our capacity to connect with other people plays an important role in our personal happiness, longevity, and ability to handle stress.

Unfortunately, since highly sensitive people tend to need a lot of “alone” time, it’s relatively easy to get caught up in our own “little worlds”. While it’s healthy to have some alone time, we need to be careful that we don’t take it too far and become socially isolated. (more…)

#HighlySensitivePeople: Do You “Act” Like You Want To Be?

This is a simple technique that helps you keep on a positive and productive life path. What do you want? Is it good health? Is there a person you admire who you’d like to emulate? What career path would you like to pursue?

You may not feel well, but why can’t you act like you’re healthy? You may not feel that you have the qualities of someone you admire, but why can’t you act like this person? You might have writing aspirations, but feel unqualified to do so. Why not “act” the part?

Don’t wait for a sign or for the right person to come along to help you. YOU are the person you are waiting for. YOUR DESIRE to move forward is the sign you’ve been looking for. YOU can move forward by acting like you want to be!
