#HighlySensitivePeople: Do You Have Afternoon Crash?

Do you have afternoon crash? I certainly do! My energy starts to deplete between two and four in the afternoon. Although I do my best to plan my activities based on my mental and physical capacities, this is not always possible, and I still struggle with fatigue.

I read an article by nutritionist, Nancy Clark, RD that’s been helpful to me. She stated that most people tend to get hungry every three to four hours, so if you eat breakfast at eight A.M. and then lunch at noon, your body needs to chow down around 3 PM, or you risk getting a fuzzy, tired feeling.

The tiredness can be even worse for highly sensitive people, since we are more sensitive to fluctuations in our blood sugar levels. As most of you know, it’s essential for HSPs to stay tuned to the signals we get from our body. (more…)

#HighlySensitivePeople: Would You Like To Be Self-Employed?

Starting your own business can be attractive for many reasons. This might sound tempting if you’re sick of the “rat race” of the corporate world, working with people who don’t share your values and interests, or worried about downsizing in your company.

I knew at an early age that I couldn’t work for anyone. I came to this conclusion when I worked in a corporation and then worked in a family business. I never liked the idea of people telling me what to do, especially my parents, teachers, and employers. I also couldn’t stand having someone breathing down my neck or criticizing me. I needed the freedom to work at my own pace and be able to try new things as I saw fit. (more…)

#HighlySensitivePeople: Is Happiness A Choice?

Is happiness a choice? It depends on who you ask. If a person is relatively happy with their lives, they might say that they made the right choices that made them that way. If a person is unhappy, they might say that they were a victim of circumstances.

Where do you fit in? Success and happiness are intertwined. Are you successful? Success can mean having a fulfilling career, being a loving parent, having wonderful relationships, or maybe having a sense of control over your life. (more…)

#HighlySensitivePeople: Are You Growing Into Your True Self?

Are you growing into your true self? This sounds like an odd question doesn’t it? By growing into your true self I mean, acting like you want to be and taking actions needed to be or do what you want to accomplish.

This isn’t an easy task when you’re starting something new and unfamiliar. You have to be unafraid to make mistakes and looking foolish. Being open to criticism is also part of the process. (more…)
