How can you cope with the death of a beloved pet?

I'm writing this post with a heavy heart. Recently, my dog and loyal friend, Teddy, passed away. He was a very important part of our family. It's a particular shock that his passing happened so suddenly. He was getting on in years, but he didn't have serious health issues. He looked like a "young pup" and had an abundance of energy until the end. At least that is one small thing I can be grateful for...his lack of suffering. The loss of a beloved pet can be emotionally devastating. There's simply no way to sugar coat that reality. As they say, grief is the price of love. Do you think it’s too late for love?

Do you think it’s too late for love? Certainly Sadie Hargrove Sims and Reverend Wallace Lee don’t think so. Sadie is 104, and Reverend Wallace Lee is 87. She was married for 24 years, and he was married for 51. Never did they think that they would walk down the aisle at this stage in their lives.

Does age decrease your ability to make wise decisions?

Does age decrease your ability to make wise decisions? From a personal standpoint, I hope not! I recently read an article that mentioned this.

A study published in the journal, Proceedings of Sciences, suggests that our ability to make wise decisions changes over time, and actually declines in old age.

The study found that in certain situations, the decision-making ability of people older than 65 was worse than that of adolescents. (more…)
