A loss of a loved one is particularly stressful and may give us a negative outlook on life. #HighlySensitivePeople: What Prevents Us From Doing Our Best?

As highly sensitive people, it’s important for us to use our deep-thinking capabilities to think about the things that get in the way of our highest potential. How can we improve if we don’t know what’s holding us back?

Below is a list of things that have been roadblocks for me. See if you can relate to any of them.

  • Fear of failure: This is an ongoing challenge for me. I’ve come to realize that everyone makes mistakes, and that I’ve been able to overcome mistakes that I’ve made in the past. #HighlySensitivePeople: Do You Have To Be Aggressive To Be Assertive?

Being the highly sensitive person that I am, I know it can be challenging to assert your needs and wants to others. Do you feel that you need to take an aggressive approach to accomplish this?

The good news is that you don’t have to be aggressive to get what you want. Assertive communication is expressing your point of view in a clear, concise, and direct fashion. You can do with this with a strong and firm voice that is neither aggressive nor confrontational. Don’t raise your voice and maintain eye contact. It’s very important to make sure that your communication is clear. It should leave no doubt in the listener as to what you are saying and why you are saying it. (more…)
