What is the difference between feeling tired and experiencing symptoms of fatigue? That’s a very good question and it’s important to understand the difference. If you’re just a little tired, you can recover quickly, but long bouts with fatigue could signal a problem.

Although social festivities and family gatherings obscure the original meaning of Labor Day, having the first Monday in September off as a paid holiday is a greatly appreciated benefit for all American workers who have it. However, without the fringe benefit of paid holidays, many Americans either have to work or lose money if they take Labor Day off.

#HighlySensitivePeople: Do You Need To Explain Your High Sensitivity?

I never thought I needed to explain my high sensitivity. If something bothered or irritated me that I was very “sensitive” to, I would let that person know I wasn’t happy. Sometimes I handled it in a proper and calm way and explained why something bothered me. I didn’t mention my sensitivity.

More times than I’d like to admit, I didn’t handle it in a civilized manner. If someone commented that I was “too sensitive” about something, I would retort “Yes, I am sensitive, and I don’t like what you said” in a not so nice tone of voice. I would then explain what was bothering me. Hey, I never said I was perfect! Although we highly sensitive people try to be. Why is that? (more…)

#HighlySensitivePeople: What Makes A Person Attractive?

What makes a person attractive? I’m not talking about physical attractiveness, but qualities that make a person beautiful.

Have you ever seen a person who is physically appealing, but when you talk to them or see how they act towards others, they are totally unappealing?

What are attractive qualities? Examples include:

  • Sensitivity. Being sensitive to the needs of others. How can being caring, supportive, and being a good listener not be sexy?
  • Sense of humor. Life can sometimes be difficult. Isn’t it refreshing to be around a person who can make us laugh? (more…)
