#HighlySensitivePeople #Introverts: Is Technology Helping you or Draining You?

Technology has made my life easier in many ways. But as a highly sensitive person, I’ve also learned something important:

Just because I can always be connected doesn’t mean I should be.

Our phones, computers, and social media can keep us connected to work, family, friends, news, and the rest of the world almost 24/7.

That sounds convenient.

But for highly sensitive people and introverts, constant connection can also mean constant stimulation.

And there’s a difference.

I’ve discovered that sometimes I don’t need another notification, another email, another social media post, or another piece of information.

I need some quiet.

The unconventional advice I’d give is this:

Don’t ask yourself, “How much technology should I use?”

Ask:

“When do I want to be unavailable?”

That question changed the way I think about technology.

Maybe you don’t need to throw away your phone or disappear from social media.

Maybe you simply need some technology-free spaces in your day.

No phone during dinner.

No checking messages while exercising.

No scrolling before bed.

No feeling that you have to respond immediately to everyone.

And occasionally, just go outside without your phone in your hand.

For me, being highly sensitive means I can absorb a lot from the world around me.

Technology gives me access to even more of that world.

Sometimes the healthiest thing I can do is turn the volume down.

Technology isn’t necessarily the problem.

Our inability to disconnect from it may be.

So here’s something worth asking yourself today:

Is your technology helping you live your life—or is it quietly taking you away from it?

Today’s Brave Step: Choose one small period today when you will intentionally be unavailable. Notice how you feel.

You might discover that disconnecting from the world for a little while helps you reconnect with yourself.

If this resonated with you, someone you care about might need it too. Don’t wait—share it with them now. A few words at the right moment can make all the difference.
