Highly Sensitive People: How Can You Improve In 2020?

As we head into the new year, it’s a time of renewal and re-evaluation. What does self-improvement mean to you? This term may mean different things to different people. Self-awareness comes before self-improvement. How can you improve if you’re not aware of who you are and what you want and need?

The purpose of this blog and my other information is to help you understand yourself and your highly sensitive nature, so that you can use your high sensitivity to your advantage.

Here are some types of self-improvement for your consideration:

  • Physical improvement: This type of self-improvement involves the preservation and restoration of your health. You might consider some form of exercise that makes sense to you and your schedule. Or perhaps you can work on changing your diet, increasing the amount of healthy foods you eat. The objective is to have a planned program that you can stick with for the long-term. This will be a positive lifestyle change that will make you feel better, boost your self-esteem, and strengthen your immune system. A regular exercise program has helped me tremendously with my arthritic issues.
  • Psychological improvement: This type of self-improvement involves improving your mental discipline in regulating your feelings. Since highly sensitive people experience emotions in a more intense way than most people, this is very important. Does your self-talk help you or hinder you? Do you set boundaries with others? How do you feel about yourself? What makes you angry? How do you manage hurt feelings? What can you specifically do to improve your mental health?

Any type of improvement requires that you to make a change. Change, good or bad, can be very stressful. It’s important to reward yourself whenever you make any type of improvement. Give yourself as many rewards as possible, so you can stay motivated.

In order to implement a self-improvement strategy, you may want to consult with a coach, I offer e-mail coaching https://www.thehighlysensitiveperson.com/my-services/ or therapist, work with a personal trainer for fitness goals, or have some accountability with a friend or other like-minded people to keep you moving forward. There’s no time like the present to improve upon the many good qualities that you have. What do you have to lose? Maybe a happy and productive life! Come on, let’s get going!

What would you like to improve upon? I’m interested in any thoughts or comments that you have. Happy and Healthy New Year Everyone!
